Biotin (vitamin B7) is a vitamin found in foods like eggs, milk, and bananas. Biotin deficiency can cause thinning of the hair and a rash on the face. Biotin is an important part of enzymes in the body that break down substances like fats, carbohydrates, and others.
Minoxidil belongs to the drug class of vasodilators, specifically a peripheral vasodilator, used to treat high blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow. It's also known as an antihypertensive. When used topically for hair loss, it's sometimes classified under miscellaneous topical agents, working by increasing blood flow to hair follicles.
