Hair loss for Women
Fluctuations in hormones can play a big part in hair loss for women.
Biotin (vitamin B7) is a vitamin found in foods like eggs, milk, and bananas. Biotin deficiency can cause thinning of the hair and a rash on the face. Biotin is an important part of enzymes in the body that break down substances like fats, carbohydrates, and others.
Minoxidil belongs to the drug class of vasodilators, specifically a peripheral vasodilator, used to treat high blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow. It's also known as an antihypertensive. When used topically for hair loss, it's sometimes classified under miscellaneous topical agents, working by increasing blood flow to hair follicles.
***Hair shedding in first month, followed by new growth in the next 1-3 months.
Spironolactone is primarily classified as an aldosterone receptor antagonist and a potassium-sparing diuretic (or "water pill"), working by blocking the hormone aldosterone to make the kidneys excrete excess sodium and water while retaining potassium, treating conditions like heart failure, high blood pressure, and fluid retention (edema). It is used off-label to treat acne, hirsutism, and female pattern hair loss by reducing androgen-related stimulation of skin and hair follicles.
DHEA and Pregnenolone are the precursors for estrogen and testosterone which if too low or changing can add to hair loss.
Hair loss for Men
Fluctuations in hormones can play a big part in hair loss for men.

Finasteride belongs to the drug class of 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (5-ARIs), which work by blocking the enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). By reducing DHT levels in the prostate and scalp, finasteride treats benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) (enlarged prostate) and male pattern baldness, slowing prostate growth and hair loss, respectively.
